Cleanish is a weekly newsletter about food and health for people who want to eat and feel well without it taking over their lives. Every week, we go through what's happening in food and health news, and we read the study instead of the headline about the study. Sometimes, that means a claim everybody's repeating doesn't hold up. Sometimes, it means the thing people are panicking about is real, just smaller than social media makes it seem. Either way, you get the actual finding and what it means for your grocery cart, not a reason to be afraid of your kitchen. Whatever we're digging into each week, you get the research and the food that goes with it.

Who’s behind it?
It's the two of us: Dustin and Lacey Baier. We've been together since high school, and now have four kids and two dogs. We've each lost a significant amount of weight by embracing a healthy, cleanish lifestyle that focuses on the quality of our food and our fitness, while still enjoying the process.
Lacey does most of the writing, branding, and research, and Dustin handles the design, marketing, and vision for the future. We both nerd out over the data. Contrary to what it seems like in so many articles out there today, we are real people sharing real thoughts. Every issue is edited and approved by Lacey before it goes out. Nothing lands in your inbox that she hasn't read.
We started this because we got tired of the fear tactics and embellishments. Nobody selling you the fix wants you to read the study. So, we don't do that. Even when the honest answer is boring and likely less sexy than the headlines. Being real in a world of fake matters to us. We all deserve a sane, reasonable, research-driven approach to a healthy lifestyle we can enjoy. That's what this newsletter is all about.
How it started
Lacey's been writing about food since 2009. She has published a well-respected clean eating blog, a YouTube channel with over 400k subscribers, and now two clean eating cookbooks. Lacey lost sixty pounds before her wedding by cutting calories to the extreme. After having their third child, Lacey made the decision not to go back to calorie counting, and that’s when she learned the value of clean eating. From there, Lacey and Dustin created a lifestyle built on eating mostly clean, prioritizing protein and whole foods, strength training, and enjoying life.
